Extra recycling trucks have been put on the road today as the council tries to meet exceptional demand in the run up to Christmas.

Man dies crossing busy A64 at Bilbrough

A man has died after he was hit by a car as he crossed the A64 at Bilbrough.

A high-ranking member of Selby Town Council has spoken of how 'difficult choices' lead Councillors to slash its spend on the town's Christmas display by more than half.

North Yorkshire Police its partner agencies have described how an event to promote security in Selby this weekend was a great success.

Council tax bills could be on the rise in 2015 after cabinet members at Selby Council indicated they would support a hike of up to 2%.

Only minor changes will be made to bin rounds this Christmas as the Council tries to keep on top of waste collections.
