Published 9 years ago | Updated 7 years ago

TheSelebian is an independent, local news service based in Selby, North Yorkshire. We are the area's authoritative online news source and the most widely viewed across the area we serve.

Our editorial area covers the major urban area of Selby Town and extends to the wider Selby District including the towns of Tadcaster and Sherburn as well as smaller settlements including Barlby, Brayton, Riccall, South Milford and Camblesforth.

The service was established in 2000 as Selby Online, a community website for the town of Selby. We have expanded over time, to become TheSelebian, your primary source of online local journalism and local info for the local area.

Our mission is to:

  • Publish news quickly and accurately
Because when stories of importance break you shouldn't have to wait til Thursday to read about them.

  • Break stories overlooked by regional and national press
Investigating issues that affect life in Selby.

  • Provide news without political bias
We won't tell you how to think or who you should vote for.

  • Challenge those in power
Because you have a right to know about those who represent our area.

  • Support local businesses, organisations and events
Helping you to enjoy life locally and support the local economy.
