A 24-year-old Doncaster man has been fined after pleading guilty to fly-tipping on a rural lane in the Selby area.

Jordan Reece Cairns, of Campsall, appeared before York and Selby Magistrates' Court earlier today to face allegations relating to illegal dumping off Long Lane, Kirk Smeaton.

Prosecuting the case, Selby District Council claimed Cairns had visited the location on 26 April where he dumped a significant amount of rubbish, including wooden decking and various car parts.

He was given a fine of £320.00, ordered to pay costs of £600.00 plus a surcharge of £32.00.

A spokesperson for the council urged residents who find fly-tipped rubbish to report it immediately on 01757 705101 or via their website.
