Selby 'odd job man' wanted over pensioner's missing jewelry

Police are trying to track down a local 'odd job man' as they investigate how jewelry from the home of an 87-year-old lone Selby woman.

At around 11 o'clock on the morning of Friday August 5th, a man, purporting to be fixing a roof, entered the woman's home on on Fairways, Selby.

A time later it was discovered that some items of jewelry had been taken from the home. These include a gold chain and earrings.

Police officers investigating the incident would like to speak to a man who is described as approximately 5'7" to 5'10" tall and was very smartly dressed, in a shirt and trousers. He left the area in a white drop-side lorry, direction of travel unknown at this time.

Police are asking if anyone saw anyone acting suspicious in the area to come forward to assist police with their enquiries by ringing 101 and quoting reference number NYP-05082016-0374. You can also pass information without giving your name to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
