Works to replace the failing deck of Selby's Old Toll Bridge have been postponed because of adverse weather.
The bridge was due to be closed throughout this coming weekend with contractors poised to rip up and replace its surface.
North Yorkshire County Council has not yet announced when the postponed work will take place.
A spokesperson for the authority said, "The work involves re-decking the surface and cannot be done in cold temperatures."
Temporary traffic lights on the nearby A63 Selby Bypass bridge had been removed to ease traffic over the weekend. They are due to return from Monday.
