The night marshals were being paid out of community safety partnership fund in the first place cause it was to help the police cause they were not enough and short of police this was jointly funded by district councils and parish councils but since the police crime commissioners post was set up the funds for community safety partnership have been pulled and the police crime commissioner has used into one pot but made decision not to fund the night marshals who were a good scheme even featured on the late night yorkshire television Progamme a few years ago cause of excellent scheme.

The doormen are doing excellent job under the circumstances but this scheme is good on paper but in reality I think this adding to much more pressure to the doorman's role I think some people will volunteer to be breathalyser.
But I also this fuel to someone also causing bother on the door and adding more problems to doorman especially in light that there is not going to be extra police on our streets at night. So asking the public when do volunteer and are refused to just accept the decision and walk away accept the decision it's not fault of doorman they being asked to take this on cause of reduction of police officers being cutback.
Also feel that without night marshals the safety of people who want to just go out for quite drink and enjoy themselves but some people unfortunately will go out looking to cause trouble and also with threat of lamppost lights been switched off at certain time will make it unsafe to walk home. I do not know why North Yorkshire are following Glasgows scheme having low-energy lights which has saved them money rather then switch off the lights I am appealing to public to go out in Selby and enjoy themselves.
Also feel for safety of the taxis driving who trying earn a living when some people are damaging their taxis and if fighting breaks out at rank now taxis drivers are going to drive off and knock off duty now go home cause they do not want to put themselves at risk there no camera covering the rank who can blame them after all cutbacks taking that action.
Selby has suffer since 2010 in law and order with the courts being closed and people having to go to York which I understand in selby has resulted in high number of warrants being issued the police cells being closed day and night cuts backs in CCTV cameras and night marshals being axed and now threat of street lighting.
Do not agree with street angels as volunteers on the streets that is our stance as town councillors. I understand no one has come forward with that yet to voulnteer themselves in selby area. But it's alright chief insp saying its successful in other parts but have the other areas of North Yorkshire had same amount of cuts selby has in law and order.
What the police crime commissioner fails to see Selby is most faster growing in town with new housing delevopments which means more people to police and it's not good enough we have half function police station. People are not reporting crime cause of police resources since commissioners being in post.
There are lots of crimes going unreported now. I urgent public report crimes get a crime number make sure it's logged on system.
