Council to ask Selebians how and where the area should grow
Council policy makers are pushing forward with plans to define how the district is set to be developed on the back of their recent High Court win.

At the end of October Selby District Council were celebrating after defeating a legal challenge to sink a key piece of their newly adopted Local Plan. Now, little more than two weeks later, they are gearing up for the next stage.
From Monday, the Council will be asking the public on where the district's new development should happen. This will form the basis of a new land allocation policy document it's calling 'Plan Selby'.
The consultation will run through until January 19th and cosiders locations for business and housing growth to meet the demands of the growing Selby population throughtout the Selby area.
Once adopted, the document will form the basis for every decision made for future planning applications for development in Selby. It will give developers a clear steer as to what is needed and where it should go.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Mark Crane, said, "We know Selby is the place to do business and the place to live. We've got significant new business space coming onto the market already and Plan Selby gives us the framework to deliver more. That will support new investment and new jobs.
"Housing is another key issue for us. We need new homes for families and individuals across the district, and these homes need to be supported by local amenities. Plan Selby sets out how this can be done.
"This is about supporting developers to invest in ways that help to deliver a prosperous and sustainable future for our area."
