Man dies at Selby area caravan park

Police and paramedics were called to The Ranch Caravan Park at Cliffe Common at 3:12 am following reports that a man had been found unconscious in a caravan on the site.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene despite repeated attempts having been made to revive him.

North Yorkshire Police are now appealing for witnesses and information following the death which they have described as sudden and unexplained.

Police enquiries remain ongoing at the caravan park as officers investigate the full circumstances surrounding the death.

The location has been cordoned off and members of the public are asked to keep away from the site at this time.

Police say one line of enquiry currently being pursued is the possibility that the man could have been assaulted on Saturday night or during the early hours of this morning prior to going to bed.

Officers are urging witnesses to the assault to come forward without delay, or anyone with other information that could assist the investigation.
