Drink-drive probe follows A63 head-on smash
Police in Selby have arrested a man involved in a head-on collision on Easter Sunday after he allegedly failed a breath test.

The crash took place at around 12:25pm when two red saloon cars were travelling on the A63 near Brackenholme Business Park. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, attended the scene where five casualties had to be taken to hospital.
The arrested man, a 22-year-old from Goole, was driving a red VW Passat when he came into collision with a red Seat Toledo travelling in the opposite direction.
A 23-year-old man from Selby was driving the Seat Toledo. He was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary suffering with serious but not life-threatening injuries. His condition has since been described as “satisfactory” and has been released from hospital.
Three passengers travelling in both the Passat and the Seat Toledo were also taken by ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment to less serious injuries including broken bones and cuts and bruises.
The road was closed to traffic in the aftermath of the incident and remained closed until 7.50pm to allow the police to fully examine the collision scene and for the two cars to be recovered.
Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward to them. Anyone who saw the incident or recalls seeing either car prior to the crash, should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Ken England or Roads Policing Group Tadcaster.
