Council warning over bogus solar panel firm

Selby District Council has warned its tenants to be on guard after receiving reports of a bogus solar panel company trying to access their properties.

The company claims the council had passed on their details to make arrangements for Solar panels to be fitted at their property.

Those contacted have been asked a number of personal questions including, how they pay their rent and the size of the property that they live in.

A spokesperson for the council warned tenants to stay clear. They said, "If you are contacted by this company please do not engage with them, Selby District Council do not have an agreement in place to have solar panels fitted at our tenants properties."

Anybody who receives such a call should report the matter to the police by calling 101.
