Tadcaster flood warning removed; 4 remain in place

A flood warning affecting the River Wharfe at Tadcaster was stood down last night, whilst others in the area remain in force.

The warning was called off last night after river levels on the Wharfe began to recede. Officers from the Environment Agency had been mobilised to set up a 24-hour emergency response team to assist with expected flooding in the town.

Elsewhere in the Selby area four further flood warnings remain in force. They are at:

• Cock Beck at Stutton, nr. Tadcaster
• River Ouse at Acaster Selby
• River Aire at West Haddlesey and Chapel Haddlesey
• River Ouse at Naburn Lock

Flood alerts (formerly known as Flood Watch) are in force throughout much of the district with Environment Agency officials advising residents in areas adjacent to waterways to be prepared.

A further update from the Environment Agency this lunchtime warns of more rain forecast for later today. They say peak river levels are predicted not to be as high as last night.
