Two injured in light aircraft crash near Selby

Two men have been injured after a light aircraft crashed into a field near Hambleton yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the crash site, off Station Road, at around 11:50 am on Saturday morning. 

Two men, the sole occupants of the plane, were freed by firefighters and treated on-scene by attending paramedics.

Both were taken to Leeds General Infirmary with suspected back and pelvic injuries. One was in a more serious condition and was flown to hospital by air ambulance.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said, "The aircraft has been made safe and security measures have been put in place at the crash scene."

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch have been made aware of the incident and are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
