Biker dies in Chapel Haddlesey crash

A motorcyclist has died after he was involved in a four vehicle crash on the A19 at Chapel Haddlesey.

It occurred around half-a-mile north of the Selby area village, at the junction with Fox Lane, at around 6.20pm on Friday evening.

The crash involved three cars – a grey Citroen C1, a grey Ford Ranger pick-up truck, a grey VW Jetta – and a blue Honda motorcycle.

The 24-year-old Goole man who was riding the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency teams stayed on scene for much of Friday evening with police carrying out full investigation work until around 3am.

The driver of the Citroen C1, a 25-year-old man from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was arrested on suspicious of causing death by careless driving. Following questioning, he was released on police bail to allow time for further investigation.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who recalls seeing any of the vehicles involved prior to the incident, to come forward as soon as possible.  This includes any motorists who came across the collision scene after it occurred, but did not stay to speak with the police.
