Runner bitten by dog on riverside path

A jogger has been bitten by a dog while out for a run near Selby, last Sunday morning.

The incident is alleged to have occurred at around 08:45, as the victim ran along the riverside paths of Ouse Bank, between the A63 swing bridge bridge and Cliffe.

They say they passed a man and woman who were walking two dogs off the lead, whereupon one of the dogs is said to have run towards the runner and chased the runner along the path, ultimately biting them. The bites are understood to have caused grazing and damage to clothing.

The dog is described as a large mastiff-type breed, similar in appearance to an XL Bully but with longer legs. It was redominantly white with black patches and a pink nose.

The male owner is described as tall and muscular, bald and was wearing a white vest top. The female, meanwhile, had brown hair, and was wearing a blue top.

North Yorkshire Police is now appealing for information to help identify the owners of the dogs and would like to speak with anyone who might have witnessed the incident. Please call 101 if you have any information relevant to the case.
