Date set for annual jobs fair; free stands for local firms
MP's annual jobs fair to take place in October.
Selby
This year's district jobs fair will be held on Thursday, October 13th, organisers have revealed.
Taking place at Selby College, the fair will mark the sixth consecutive year the annual event has been staged.
The event is being organised by local MP, Nigel Adams (Con, Selby & Ainsty), who has made 45 stands available for free to local firms who are looking to take on new staff or provide training opportunities.
Demand in previous years has been very high and all stands taken. Last year over 700 job seekers attended the event with most coming from Selby, Sherburn, Tadcaster as well as more rural areas of the Selby District.
The event is now recognised as a major event and last year it drew interest from job seekers who came in from Leeds and York. Many final year college students also attended where they gained an insight into local employment opportunities.
Nigel Adams MP commented “This is the sixth Selby District Jobs Fair organised in partnership with Selby Jobs Centre and Selby College. I am delighted that within hours of announcing this year’s event local companies were booking stands. From these early bookings it is clear that once again we will have a diversity of jobs and apprenticeships on offer.”
The event will be held at Selby College on Thursday 13 October from 9.30am until 3pm. It will be followed by an employers networking event.
