Council writing to district voters ahead of May's 3-in-1 election day
Selby District Council is set to write out to all households across the Selby area as it brings its registers up-to-date before important local and nation elections on May 7th.

From tomorrow the Council will be sending out household notification letters, outlining who is currently registered at each property.
If the information contained in the letter is correct, then no further action will be required by the householder. For homes where details not correct – including where someone no longer living at the property is listed or if someone is newly moved in – the Council have asked that they be informed using the instructions set out in the letter.
Three separate elections will be taking place on Thursday, May 7th as voters across the area will be selecting representatives on parish councils, the District Council and who will take the Selby & Ainsty parliamentary seat at Westminster. Parish Council elections will not apply to some areas of the district however.
The Council says it is important that they have up-to-date information during the build-up to the elections so it can ensure than everyone who is entitled to vote can do so.
The Chief Executive of Selby District Council and the District's Returning Officer Mary Weastell said, “The Household Notification Letter Write Out is about creating awareness of the importance of electoral registration and of the importance of keeping your details up to date. From time to time residents forget to report electoral register changes. It is important that the Council strives to make sure that the correct information is on record and everyone who is eligible to vote can do so at the upcoming elections.”

The last date to register to be able to vote in this year's elections is Monday, April 20th. If you still haven't registered by this time you will not be able to make your voice heard at the ballot box in May.
