Farmers' and craft markets to take place despite weather

Farmers and Craft markets are still due to take place in Selby's market place this weekend despite weather warnings being issued.

Strong winds are expected to blow in across the area as the country experiences it's first cold snap of the season.

Meteorologists at the Met Office have issued a Level 2 early warning alert for cold weather and snow, effective until 10:00 am on Saturday morning. A further warning of strong winds will remain in force until 3:00 pm.

A spokesperson for Selby Town Council confirmed the go-ahead of the event. They said, "Some traders will be selling from their vehicles if it is unsafe to erect their gazebos or stalls. Please come along and support your local market."

Lots of great stalls are expected to turn out with fresh fish, award winning pies, locally caught game and quality street food all available throughout the day. Crafts including special Christmas cards and gifts will also be available.
