Man wanted over Brayton 'distraction burglary'

Selby Police are trying to trace a man in connection with a distraction burglary that took place in Brayton yesterday.

The incident occurred at around 11 o'clock yesterday morning when a man called at a home on Moss Green Lane. He was claiming to be looking for a lost football.

The female resident shut the front door and went with the man to look for the ball. Upon being unable to find any trace of a ball, the woman then asked him to leave. At this time she heard the sound of her front door shutting.

A short time later the woman realised jewellery has been stolen and contacted the police.

Officers investigating the incident would like to trace an individual described as in his twenties and who had short, dark hair. He was wearing a grey track suit bottoms and top and is thought could have had another person with him.
