Two fires on the Selby district's section of the A64 caused problems for motorists at the weekend.

A car fire, thought to have been caused by faulty car electrics, blocked the dual carriageway between Tadcaster and Bramham from around half-past nine on Saturday morning. Crews used foam to extinguish the fire.

Motorists were diverted through Tadcaster for a time while the incident was brought under control.

Later in the day, firefighters from Tadcaster were also called to reports of a grass fire close to services at Bilbrough Top. On arrival, they found a 10-meter section of hedge was well-alight.

There is no word on the cause of the fire at this time.
