South Milford restaurant in court over unlicensed alcohol

Leeds man, Basha Miah, 31, was working at the Cumin Lounge in Low Street when he served alcohol without the necessary licence in place to do so.

He pleaded guilty to the charge at York Magistrates Court yesterday, where he was given a three month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £150.

A spokesperson for Selby District Council said, “The Council pursued this matter because the premises were warned they had no licence and could not supply alcohol until they obtained one. The warning was ignored and therefore we had no alternative but to prosecute.”

The Council tells Selby Online that an licence for the sale of alcohol at the premises has since been granted.
