Arrest follows late night violent attacks
Police in Selby have arrested a local man after three men were assaulted overnight in separate town centre attacks.

Detectives say the attacks happened in three separate locations in and around Selby Town Centre in the early hours of this morning – all within a period of little over 30 minutes.
The first assault took place just before 4am on New Millgate, when a 21 year-old man was assaulted whilst walking with two friends. He suffered only minor injuries.
The second attack, this time on an 18-year-old male, occurred close by and just a short time later at the bottom of Micklegate, close to Mr C’s fish and chip shop and The Square public house. The victim needed to be taken to York Hospital where he received treatment for serious facial injuries.
The final incident happened at around 4:30am, when the 21-year-old male victim was assaulted with a piece of wood whilst walking on The Chimes, off Flaxley Road. He suffered a serious head injury which required medical treatment at York Hospital.
A 24-year-old man from the Selby area has since been arrested in connection with these assaults.
Detective Constable Kendra Wedgewood, of Selby CID, said: “I urge anyone who witnessed any of the incidents and has not yet contacted the police, to do so straight away, as they may vital information which could progress my enquiries.”
