Selby set to kick off second stage of Tour de Yorkshire

Stage two, to be held on Saturday May 2nd, is to be a sprint section of the race and will see the race start outside our town's magnificent centrepiece, Selby Abbey.

The 174 kilometre route takes in much of the Wolds, and from Selby will take the peloton towards Market Weighton, through North Newbald and on to Beverley, where they will turn north to Malton, then on to Stamford Bridge. Spectators will have the chance to see a circuit of York and organisers are hoping for a dramatic finish in the city, which of course witnessed incredible scenes during the 2014 Grand Depart.

Also announced at a launch event in Bridlington were the start and end points for the first and final stages of the race.

The event will begin in Bridlington on Yorkshire's coast on May 1st before heading to Scarborough. Day three will see the peloton start their day in Wakefield and finishing up in Leeds.
