Cawood house fire blamed on unattended candle
A house fire in Cawood overnight was probably caused by an unattended candle, say firefighters.

Two fire engines from the Selby station were called to deal with the fire at a property on Sherburn Street just after 3am this morning.
On arrival fire fighters found that the fire had taken hold in the terraced cottage's living room, damaging part of the wall and the room's window area. Smoke damage was also caused throughout the property.
Fire officers have said that they believe the blaze could have been caused by a candle left unattended.
One male occupant of the property received treatment from Ambulance crew at the scene for minor smoke inhalation.
