Pensioner robbed on Selby housing estate
The robbery happened at around 7.15am as the woman was walking across a green area on Garden Court – a quiet residential street between Flaxley Road and Charles Street – after buying her morning paper.

She was approached by a man who pushed her in her back and snatched her purse from her hand. He escaped on foot along Garden Court towards Charles Street with the purse which contained cash and personal items.
The victim screamed during the incident and a number of people came to her assistance and called the police.
Detective Constable Kendra Wedgwood of Selby CID, said, "This was a very distressing incident for the victim, although she was not physically injured, she was very shocked by what happened.
"We are carrying out extensive enquiries in the area to bring whoever carried out the attack to justice and are asking for the public's assistance. I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the robbery or saw a man running away from the area to contact us as soon as possible."
Sergeant Jackie Booth of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said, "This is the second incident of this nature in recent days and I would like to reassure local people that we are doing everything possible to bring the people responsible to justice. Local police officers and Police Community Support Officers have been carrying out reassurance patrols in the area and we will be in the area again this evening and on Saturday morning."
