Wistow field fire 'started deliberately'

A fire which caused damage in agricultural fields in Wistow is believed to have been started deliberately, fire investigators have said.

Firefighters from Selby were called to the field, adjacent to the B1223 in Wistow, yesterday lunchtime.

Approximately 2 tonnes of waste straw had been set alight. The fire had also spread to a nearby fence.

The fire was quickly brought under control with crews using 1 hose and pitchforks to extinguish the flames.
