Finkle Street incident video shows Selby nightlife in bad light

A video has emerged showing an ugly side to some elements of weekend nightlife in Selby Town Centre.

The footage, shot at the weekend, shows a large group of obstreperous individuals congregated during an alleged fracas on Finkle Street. The incident is understood to have occurred just before 1 am, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The group's apparent lawless behaviour caused significant damage, with one Finkle Street business's window left completely smashed through and internal display equipment ruined.

At one point during the video, at least one as-yet unknown male is observed climbing out through the smashed window of Jigsaw Letting.

A spokeperson for the company told The Selebian it had been a terrible time for their family-run business and thanked well-wishers for their support.

They said, "In particular the online social media response in sharing our post to try to find who is responsible has been fantastic. We are appealing for witnesses and are working alongside North Yorkshire Police to try to find out who is responsible, ensure all parties are OK and that this does not happen again."
