Exhibition celebrates Selby’s 'summer of cycling'

Were you one of the 10,000 people who helped to welcome the Tour de Yorkshire earlier in the year?

Did you come out to support this month’s Three Swans Sportive in which over 1,000 riders took part?  And, importantly, have you got some great photos or video?

Selby District Council will be holding a special exhibition next month to celebrate the district’s summer of cycling, in partnership with Selby College and Welcome to Yorkshire.  The exhibition will showcase images from cycling events over the summer, focusing primarily on the success of the Tour de Yorkshire.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 10am to 4pm on Friday 9 October, at the Civic Centre, Doncaster Road, Selby.

The District Council’s Executive member for housing, leisure, health and culture, Cllr David Peart, explained, “We want this to be a celebration of people’s experiences of the events that have taken place over recent months: events that have really helped to raise the profile of the Selby district.

“We think it’s really important to highlight what the district has to offer both its residents and visitors, as a way of supporting business growth and investment as well as helping us to make this a great place to enjoy life.”

If you would like to submit photos or video to be considered for display as part of the exhibition, you should email them to communications@selby.gov.uk.  Please entitle the email, Photography Exhibition.  Please note that if the files are too large to send via standard email, you can use free file sharing software sent to the same email address.

The deadline for submitting images is 5pm, Friday 25 September.  Please include your name and contact details with the submission.

♦ The Council says it anticipates a big response and so not all images may be included in the final exhibition. Decisions on inclusion will be based on a number of different factors, with the final decision taken by Selby District Council.
