Witness appeal follows 3am town centre assault

Detectives investigating a violent incident in Selby are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

It happened outside Gotchs Electrical Store and the Griffin Hotel on Micklegate at around 3am on Monday 29 May 2017.

The incident involved a group of men and resulted in a 27-year-old local man being taken by ambulance to York District Hospital with a very serious eye injury.

A 21-year-old local man has been arrested in connection with the investigation and released on conditional bail while enquiries continue. These include forensic examinations at the scene and analysis of CCTV footage in the area.

Witnesses to the incident or anyone with information that could assist the investigation, are urged to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Adam Parkinson or the York Serious Crime Team.
