Flood alerts follow heavy weekend rain

Heavy weekend rain and rising river levels have prompted flood alerts on parts of the River Ouse.
A flood warning was issued by the Environment Agency at 12:43 this lunchtime affecting properties in the immediate vicinity of Naburn Lock. The current level of the River Ouse at Naburn is 6.86m and is rising slowly.
Levels are expected to remain high today with Agency forecasters predicting a further rise later in the day as water passes down from the river's upper catchments.
Selby is approximately 14 miles downstream of Naburn and is currently seeing river levels of between 2.5 and 4.3m, depending on the tide.
A lower severity 'Flood Alert' is currently in force for the tidal reaches of the Ouse, including Selby, Cawood, Kelfield and Wistow. This means there is a risk of flooding along the river's foreshore and on adjacent agricultural land.
