Caravan stolen from local village recovered in Doncaster thanks to tracker

A caravan stolen from a Selby-area village has been recovered by Police near Doncaster.

North Yorkshire Police’s Road Crime Team crossed over into the South Yorkshire Police area in order to recover the four-berth Compass Raleigh after using tracking technology to trace it to a field near Finningley.

It had been reported missing from an address on Doncaster Road, Whitley, yesterday between 9.15am and 2.15pm when the owners discovered the caravan was missing.

Luckily for the caravan's owners, it had been fitted with a tracking device which enabled police to pin-point its exact location. The caravan was recovered by the Road Crime Team at 4.22pm and reunited with the owners at 4.38pm.

Police enquiries are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible.
