Council helps local entrepreneurs to find perfect premises
A new website has been launched to help new business start-ups in the area find the perfect premises for their new venture.
Business & the local economy
Selby District Council has teamed up with the Local Enterprise Partnership to provide the new site, which can be found at www.businessinspiredgrowth.com/properties.
A recent up-tick in the number of business start-ups is great news for jobs and prosperity in district. The Council says its ready to help new enterprises with a series of business support workshops.
When Ross Stewart saw a gap in the market, he searched for ideal business premises and found them at Selby Business Park.
He explains: "It occurred to me that we didn't have any storage facilities locally and the business park in Selby seemed a great location to launch Selby Self Storage."
Ross, who is managing director of the company and has worked in the storage industry for 15 years, adds: "Selby is a fast-growing town with a population which is rising year on year. We chose Selby Business Park because it is fast becoming THE place for high-quality businesses such as ours. There are some major household names on the estate now."
The business provides automated self-store in a safe and secure environment for general public and businesses with 24/7 access. The new unit has created two new jobs - and phase 2 expansion plans are already under way.
Selby district is ideal for new businesses, as Leader of the Council, Cllr Mark Crane, explains: "Small and medium sized businesses create jobs and prosperity and Selby District Council is doing everything it can to help new businesses find their feet. Our recent business workshops, for example, were a great success and we also host regular business forums. I urge anyone starting out in business in need of offices or workshops to try the new online search facility - it makes the process of locating the perfect premises so much easier."
