James John Burke, 28, and Simon Robert Bellwood, 36, both from the Doncaster area, were jailed last Wednesday after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary. Appearing before Sheffield Crown Court, each were handed sentences of seven years' imprisonment for their crimes.
Prior to their capture the duo had targeted 55 properties throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region. The burglaries took place between March and May, this year.
Ten of those properties were in the Selby area where officers discovered the pair were often breaking into homes whilst their occupants were on holiday.
Cash and high-value items of jewellery were often the primary targets of the criminals who would then sell on the items to unsuspecting jewellers.
