Council tenants asked if they'd rather stay in touch with the authority by social media
Council tenants in the Selby area are being asked for their views over the way in which their landlord communicates with them.
District
Selby District Council has circulated a questionnaire with the Spring edition of its Open Door newsletter asking residents if they'd still like to receive the publication or would rather be kept in touch by other channels.
Facebook, twitter and the Council's own website are amongst the possible options for residents who would rather ditch the old, expensive to distribute, paper newsletter.
The consultation, which is also open with the Council's website, closes on Wednesday, April 30th. Those who respond to the questionnaire will be entered into a prize draw with a six month complementary gym membership being awarded to the winner.
Cllr Gillian Ivey, Deputy Leader of the Council, said, "This isn't about stopping printing and delivering Open Door because we know that not everyone is online or wants to use social media such as Facebook or Twitter.
"We are committed to keeping Open Door but this consultation is asking whether anyone would rather not receive it or if they would prefer to receive the information in a different format.
"If we do this we can make sure we're using the right channels to talk to tenants' and leaseholders' in the ways that they want to be talked to. It's about making the best use of the money we have doing the right things for our tenants'.
