Three prosecuted over fly-tipping offences
Selby District Council has successfully prosecuted three people for fly tipping in the district.

This week three cases were brought in front of York Magistrates Court and the offenders were successfully prosecuted under the section 34(6) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Sandra Grant, 47, and Sarah Louise Gallagher, 23, of St Philips Grove, York, were found guilty of failing to ensure that household waste was correctly disposed after bags of household waste were found dumped on Back Lane, Acaster Malbis.
Grant was given an absolute discharge and ordered to pay £100 costs. Gallagher was given an absolute discharge and ordered to pay costs of £100.
Hayley Cassidy, 25, of Woodville Terrace, was found guilty of depositing household waste on land at Petre Avenue. She was fined £40, ordered to pay costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £20.
The Council says it takes a zero tolerance approach to fly tipping which can cause significant problems for local communities. Every case reported to the Council is investigated and taken further where the offence can be proven.
