Electricity pole fire spreads to field in Sherburn

Firefighters were called to a field near Sherburn after an electricity pylon caught fire.

The alarm was raised at 9:50 this morning and as attended by a crew from Selby.

Due to the electrical nature of the fire, firefighters had to prevent the fire from spreading while waiting for engineers from the power board to arrive.

Once the power had been isolated, crews used knapsack sprayers and beaters to fully extinguish the blaze.
