Selby shocked by 'repugnant' graffiti vandals
Selby has been cleaning up after a spate of highly offensive graffiti messages were daubed on locations throughout the town over the last few days.

The messages, appearing on a number of walls and pavements in the town centre area, each contain crude references to sexual violence and include derogatory and offensive slurs aimed towards women.
Locations targeted by the vandals responsible include the Community Centre and the Dam Bridge on Millgate (pictured). Even Selby's historic Market Cross monument found itself covered in graffiti, though this was cleaned up quickly.
A police spokeswoman told Selby Online, “Police are currently investigating reports of criminal damage in the form of offensive graffiti which occurred in Selby over the weekend of 4 July.
“The words used are repugnant in nature and have caused great offence among the local community. Damaging public spaces in this way will not be tolerated and we urge anyone who has any information about who was responsible, to contact Selby Police on 101.”
