£4.5k damage caused by Sherburn fishing lake vandals
Around £4,500 worth of damage has been caused after vandals ransacked an area surrounding a Sherburn fishing lake.

Police officers in the town have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward after the act of criminal damage took place at the lake by the B1222/A162 roundabout. The damage is thought to have occurred between 5:00 pm on Wednesday, February 18th and the following morning.
Life-saving equipment including life belts were thrown into the lake during the incident with 'substantial' damaged caused to benches, platforms, chairs and railings in the area.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said, "It is beyond belief what anyone hoped to gain from this shocking criminal damage. Vandalising life-saving aids could have serious consequences and the suspects should consider themselves lucky that they did not need them at the time. We urge anyone who knows who was responsible or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area of the pond, to contact the police."
