Body found in River Wharfe at Tadcaster

The body of a man has been found in the River Wharfe at Tadcaster.
Police were called at 8.40am this morning after a member of the public discovered some personal items close to the river on Mill Lane.
The man's body was later recovered a short time ago by officers from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, working in cooperation with the police.
The man is understood to be a local man and was aged in this 30s. Relatives of the deceased have been informed and specially-trained officers are providing support to them at this time.
Officers remain at the scene, where they are continuing to investigate the incident. A thorough search of the river banks is also being carried out.
Formal identification is yet to take place.
