Barlow pilot admits £5M drugs charge

A pilot from Barlow has admitted flying more than 34 kilos of Cocaine into an airfield in Breighton.

Andrew Wright, 51, was arrested shortly after he landed his light aircraft at the aerodrome near Bubwith on Monday, November 17th. Upon boarding his plane, officers from the National Crime Agency discovered a large quantity of cocaine, said to have had a street-value of upto £5 million.

Appearing at Leeds Crown Court today, Wright admitted to the charge of attempting to import a class A substance and was remanded in custody. He is expected to be sentenced on March 30th, 2015.
