Charging electric razor blamed for Selby housefire

An electric razor that overheated whilst charging is believed to have been behind a housefire at a home in Selby over the weekend.

Charging electric razor blamed for Selby housefire

Fire crews from Selby station were called to the property in Fernlea Close just after 2:00 pm on Sunday afternoon. On arrival firefighters found a charging electric razor had set fire to clothing. 

The fire caused severe damage to the bedroom with smoke causing damage throughout the house.

The alarm had been raised by the occupant of the home despite ground floor smoke detectors failing to activate.
