Attempted burglary at Sherburn office supplies company

Police are investigating an apparent burglary attempt at an office supplies firm in Sherburn.

Officers were called after a group of men were seen allegedly trying to break in to the property on Sherburn Trading Estate by attacking and removing brickwork with blunt implements.

The property is occupied by an office supplies company who say they believe their unit was targeted over an assumption that the property held large quantities of high-value toner cartridges. No such items are stocked in the building however.

Ultimately the offenders failed to make their way into the building thanks to large pallets of paper being stacked behind the wall. The offenders had already fled the scene prior to the arrival of the police.

All businesses on the Trading estate are asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police and record any vehicle registration numbers sighted which raise concern.
