'Knife-carrying burglar' apologises during late night break-in

Officers were called at around 4.50am yesterday morning reports of the break-in at an address in the Selby area village.

The assailant was confronted during the incident and apologised for his alleged crime, claiming he needed the money. He left the property empty-handed.

Police say the alleged perpetrator was carrying a knife during the incident, but did not threaten the victims. The knife was left at the scene.

A 30-year-old suspect was later arrested and remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
