Fire at Seras biomass plant in Great Heck
A major fire has broken out at a biomass processing depot near Selby.
Crews were called to the Seras depot on Heck and Pollington Lane, Great Heck at 23:41 last night.
On arrival, crews found a sizable quantity of waste wood alight over an area of around 30 sqare metres. By daybreak, plumes of smoke could be seen from a sizable distance.
Firefighters have been drafted in from Selby, Goole and Askern stations, with specialist high volume water pumps brought in from the Harrogate area.
Local residents have been advised to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution.
