Bypass works complete; Set for Sunday opening
Focus now switches to new roundabout project at Barlby.

The A63 Selby bypass will reopen on Sunday following completion on budget of the latest phase of its reconstruction.
The £2.8m scheme, which was the second phase of a three-phase project, involved deep repair and reinstatement of the carriageway between and including the A19 Brayton roundabout and A1041 Wishing Well roundabout and their approaches.
Phase one, from the A1041 Bawtry Road to the A19 at Barlby, was completed in July last year. The third phase, which has yet to be scheduled, will cover the section from the A19 Doncaster Road to A1238 Leeds Road.
"This has been a major reconstruction scheme that continues the commitment made by North Yorkshire County Council after it became obvious that surface failures on the bypass were deep-rooted," said County Councillor Don Mackenzie, North Yorkshire's Executive Member for Highways.
"We are delighted that the work is now complete. Work on the bridge section of the bypass where it crosses the canal and railway line took slightly longer than originally programmed but the bypass will now reopen on Sunday and on budget.
"It is important that these repairs to the A63 are done, because Selby deserves a bypass that is fit for purpose and supports the town as an improtant commercial and residential centre.
"We thank road users and the residents and businesses of Selby and the surrounding area for their patience during this essential work, and we thank our contractors, CEMEX, who have worked overnight and at weekends to get the job done on time."
The reasons for the surface failure of the bypass stem from the lower layers of the road's construction, resulting in lengthy and costly repairs. Discussions about responsibility for funding the repairs continue between the county council and Highways England, which was responsible for the original bypass construction.
