Fire crews from Selby, Goole and Harrogate join forces to tackle blaze at Drax.
Selby
A blaze that broke out at a Selby area power station yesterday has been put out by fire fighters from across the region.
Fire broke out at Drax Power Station just after 9:15 yesterday morning in an area of high-rise ducting.
On arrival, crews set up a covering jet to cool the 20 by 15m steel structure before the area was sectorised to allow the setting up of a safe 'bridgehead' area from which to fight the flames.
Both fire engines from the Selby Fire Station accompanied by a crew from Goole as they fought back the flames. They were joined by a crew from Harrogate who used their aerial ladder platform to fight the fire from up high.
By mid-afternoon the fire had been extinguished with the last appliance leaving the scene before 3:15 pm.
