Lifeline support for more vulnerable people as council offers lower rate

A council service that helps support elderly and vulnerable people to live independently in their own homes will be available to more after the launch of lower-priced option.

Selby District Council's 'Lifeline' service uses technology to give users, and their friends and relatives, peace of mind by knowing that help will be there when urgent situations occur.

This could be an elderly relative or someone that requires more regular support such as someone living with Dementia. As part of the service an alarm is triggered and action is taken to contact a nominated friend or family member.

The launch of the new lower priced 'friends and family' tier will, the council says, help more people within the district access care support when its needed, and to give re-assurance to those with elderly or vulnerable relatives that help is at hand at just the push of a button.

Selby District Council’s Executive member for Housing, Leisure, Health and Culture, Cllr Dave Peart said, “The new lower priced Lifeline friends and family package will help more people within the district access support and assistance.  The service is about offering support to vulnerable people, to help them live more confidently.”
