The winning artwork was designed by a pupil at Escrick Primary School as part of the Council’s ‘Paint Your Wagon’ competition.
The competition was judged by a panel of Councillors together with a representative from the Council's waste contractors, Amey.
They chose a design by Archie Harries, 11, a former Escrick Primary School pupil. His design will now appear on the authority’s six recycling vehicles operating across the district.
Deputy leader of the Council, Cllr Gillian Ivey commented, “We were extremely impressed by the high standard of artwork submitted by all those who took part in the competition.
“Judging the entries was extremely difficult, however we chose this design because it linked local recycling with global issues and demonstrated why recycling is so important.
“I think the new artwork looks fantastic and I’ve enjoyed spotting it on wagons when they are out and about collection our recycling!”
