Patrols stepped up after suspicious activity near Selby Canal

Police patrols in the area surrounding Selby Canal have been stepped up after a woman reported a suspicious incident involving three unknown men.
Occurring at around 5:30 on Monday evening, the incident unfolded after two cars were seen behaving suspiciously in a side street, close to the Selby Canal swing bridge.
The woman noticed the two vehicles draw along side each other, before an individual got out and followed her in the direction of Kitchen Drive. He was wearing a baggy hooded top, which obscured his face from view, and got out of a scruffy older car that was possibly brown and left-hand drive.
The other two individuals involved were sat inside a silver car, possibly a Ford Escort. Its occupants were also wearing hoodie type clothing and are understood to be blonde and clean-shaven.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police confirmed they had been in touch with the woman adding, "We attended her home to speak to her later that evening, and police patrols will be increased in the area."
