Sherburn man arrested in rural crime crackdown

The man was arrested alongside two other men, aged 20 and 23. They were both from the Leeds area.

The trio were picked up by officers acting on reports of suspicious activity at a property in the village of Knayton, near Thirsk.

A member of the public reported a black Vauxhall Corsa car that was parked out outside of a property in the village at around 9pm on October 31st.

Following intelligence checks on the car, a team of officers attended the location. As they approached the Corsa they spotted men running away.

The 20-year-old was arrested at 10.12pm and, with the assistance of a police helicopter, the 23-year-old was arrested at 10.20pm after being located in a hedgerow off Cophill Lane.

The 26-year-old was arrested at 12.50am on Friday after being spotted walking near Winton Bank on the A684 by an off-duty police officer.

Hundreds of pounds worth of property, suspected of having being stolen from a nearby house, was recovered by the officers during the incident.
