Woman assaulted during Sherburn mugging
A woman has been assaulted during an attempted robbery as she walked along a Sherburn street.
Sherburn and South Milford
The attack happened at around 11.15pm on Saturday night on Kirkgate in the town.
One of two men approached her, grabbed her arm and demanded money before assaulting her. The victim managed to escape before anything was stolen.
The woman, who is aged in her 40s, suffered scratches to her face during the incident and was left very shaken up by what had happened to her.
Officers are carrying out extensive enquiries into the incident including house-to-house enquiries and checking CCTV in the area. To assist their investigation, they are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the attack to contact them.
The suspects are described as both white, aged between 18 and 22, one was 5ft 5in tall and the other 5ft 8in tall. They wore dark coloured clothing and had their hoods up over the top half of their faces.
The woman said that the man who spoke had a local Yorkshire accent.
